In Character

Full Name:Agatha Denise Belby

Other Names: Occasionally called "Aggie," but only by her family and close friends

Played By: Karoline Herfurth (with dark hair from these icons - can provide some larger pictures once I'm on my home computer if needed.

Date of Birth: 8 December 1972

House:Hufflepuff

Years: 1985-1992

Blood Status: Halfblood

Family:
Father - Hyperion Belby. Pureblood wizard who works for the Ministry of Magic. Agatha is closer to him than she is to her mother, but even so, they're not super-close. Their conversations usually revolve around Quidditch.

Mother - Reba Martin Belby. Muggleborn witch who used to work at Honeydukes but is now a stay-at-home mother. Since Agatha was born, Reba has tried her best to turn Agatha into a girly-girl, but so far nothing has worked. Agatha avoids talking to her mother about anything significant, as the conversation usually just turns into an argument.

Brother - Marcus Belby. Currently ten years old, and due to start Hogwarts next year. Despite having only lived with him during the summers while in school, Agatha is very close to him. She writes him letters frequently and tells him of all her Quidditch exploits.

Uncle - Damocles Belby. Famous uncle who invented wolfsbane potion. Agatha is used to adults asking her questions about him, but luckily most of the students don't really seem to care. She thinks it must be neat to be so rich and somewhat famous, but she'd rather get that through quidditch and not something as boring (in her opinion) as potions. Although wolfsbane is very useful, of course, if you should happen to be a werewolf.

Pet(s): None. She loves pets, mind you, but she is shite at taking care of them. She had one her first two years and she was forced to send the poor cat home because she consistently forgot to feed it. You'll often find her cuddling with someone else's cat in the Common Room, though.

Hobbies: Quidditch, quidditch, quidditch and more quiddith

Quidditch:YES! She is a Chaser and Captain for the Hufflepuff team.

Personality: Agatha is a tomboy - and she always has been. She never wanted to play dress-up or try her mother's make-up. Instead she preferred playing outside where she could run and yell and get as messy as she pleased. While she's not quite as wild now as she used to be, Agatha still prefers being outside to in, sports to baking, trousers to skirts and hanging out with the boys to gossiping with the girls. She is most passionate about Quidditch, which she has always been good at. She is fiercely competitive and takes the game incredibly seriously. The only time she has been caught crying was after losing a match.

Agatha is tough, but she is also generally easy to get along with. Quidditch, of course, tends to get her worked up, but otherwise she's pretty laid-back about everything else. Her Hufflepuff-ness tends to only come out around her Quidditch team - for them she will do almost anything, although she also expects a great deal back in return. She expects them to work just as hard as she does, and have the same level of commitment that she does, too. Obviously this can cause some conflicts, but Agatha generally finds a way to work them out, difficult though they might be.

Agatha does have friends who are not on the Quidditch team, but she is, quite frankly, not a great friend to them. Quidditch comes first, always. Most of her friends know this and accept this, but they also know that they can't always depend on her. Romantically, Agatha also hasn't had much luck. She loves to hang out with blokes, but most of the time they see her as a bloke. Plus, she's so wrapped up in Quidditch that she doesn't seem to have time for a relationship. Secretly, Agatha really, really wants a relationship, but she's far too proud to admit that, and will openly scoff at the idea if anyone suggests it.

Agatha is also stubborn to a fault. While this means she sticks to her convictions, it also means that she can be irrational and illogical when her mind is made up. And while Agatha is tireless when it comes to Quidditch, she is not nearly so dedicated when it comes to her classwork - there she barely manages to squeak by, and frankly doesn't really care that she could do better. She knows she could, but then her Quidditch performance would probably suffer, and that is by far her top priority.

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Past/Current Relationships: None.

Physical Appearance: Agatha is average looking, with dark hair and dark eyes and a generous amount of freckles across her face. Her hair is usually thrown back in a ponytail, and when she is not in her school robes, she is usually dressed in athletic gear or jeans and a t-shirt. Her face is always free of make-up, and her hair free of product. She does have a particularly pretty smile, which is by far her best feature. Her figure is very boyish, and while people have told Agatha that she would look pretty if she made more of an effort, she'd just look awkward and uncomfortable all dolled up.

Affiliations: The Hufflepuff Quidditch team. Oh, does that not count? Then...the Ministry, by default.

History: Agatha was the firstborn of Hyperion and Reba Belby, and her mother was delighted to have a daughter. Agatha was outfitted in pink from the moment she was born, but it wasn't long before she started protesting this. Agatha was a natural tomboy, much to her mother's dismay, and many fights arose between them over it. Agatha's father preferred to stay out of the arguments, but if forced to provide an opinion, he would usually opine that it would be better to just let Agatha have her own way - she would learn to like dresses all by herself if given the chance. Unfortunately for her father, no such thing occurred, and Agatha just became even more tomboyish. To this day, her mother will throw it in her father's face, that this comes from him giving Agatha her way too much as a child.

Agatha didn't worry herself too much about her parents' disagreements, though. She was a happy child, once she was given more freedom, and she easily made friends with some of the neighborhood boys and could easily play outside with them for hours on end.

When she was seven, her younger brother Marcus was born, and she was overjoyed to be a big sister, and especially to have a little brother. Surprisingly, she was good with him even when he was a baby. For all her boyish and rough qualities, Agatha was surprisingly good with babies. She would spend hours playing with him, and when he got older he would follow her around, mimicking everything she did. Agatha was happy to teach him how to climb trees and make mud pies and all the things a little boy should know.

She was a little sad, of course, when it was time for her to leave for Hogwarts, but she was also excited about the opportunity. She especially wanted to play more Quidditch, which she had only gotten to do briefly before her mother completely put her foot down and forbade it. Agatha was naturally good, but not spectacular, at the sport, but what she lacked in talent she made up for with sheer determination. She practiced often and she practiced hard, and by her second year she made her house Quidditch team. From then on, Quidditch became the focal point of her life, overshadowing everything else. If she wasn't playing Quidditch, she was talking about Quidditch.

She became quite close to some of the boys in her year, and while she was nice to the girls, she never felt particularly close to them. She soon became best friends with one of the blokes, and to this day they remain very close. Despite this, there were never rumours that they were more than friends - people always saw Agatha as too much of a tomboy (and possibly a lesbian) to actually fancy a boy. Which was far from the truth - in her fourth year Agatha developed a raging crush on her best friend. She found the whole situation excruciating and embarrassing, and managed to keep it a secret. She eventually got over it, but since has almost always had a crush on one boy or another - but as always, she has never acted on it.

In her sixth year, Agatha was made Captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team - the biggest honour of her life so far. She was overjoyed and took the position very seriously. As she heads into her seventh and final year at Hogwarts, she is determined to work harder than ever to win the House Cup - but of course, the outcome of games does not lie solely on her shoulders.

Desired Occupation: Professional Quidditch player, of course.

Journal: If you are trying out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, please be aware that try-outs will be next Tuesday at six o'clock sharp. Absolutely no excuses will be accepted if you are not there. Be sure to sign up on the sheet in the Common Room, too. We don't take walk-ins either.

Also, those of you already on the team...I know I don't even need to remind you to come to try-outs. We will also have a meeting the night before to discuss what we're looking for in new players. See me for the location. I will also expect you to hand in your training log from the summer, detailing your practise sessions. I know that some of you were limited as to how much you could fly at home, but that does not mean that you could not engage in other physical activities to help keep yourself in shape. I expect us all to be in top physical condition!

And now, business is done! Had a lovely summer and all that, although I'm more than happy to be back at Hogwarts. Hope you all had a nice time, too. Gotta run, I think the professor is sending me dirty looks. How can he know I'm not writing notes? I very well could be! Oh, here he com----

Log:
Agatha was usually a confident person, but try-outs always made her nervous for some reason. So much was riding on just a few hours on the pitch, and while she would need the opinions of her fellow teammates, ultimately the decision rested on her shoulders. One wrong choice on her part, and their whole season could be ruined. It was nerve-wracking, especially as doing well in Quidditch meant the world to Agatha.

Regardless of how nervous she was feeling, though, Agatha knew that she had to seem confident, or her team might not have faith in her. So she put on a good face as she headed down to the Quidditch pitch, the broom she had received over the summer as a present in her hand. She arrived early and did a few quick laps around the field to calm her nerves. It helped, but not quite enough. So she did a few more laps, trying to calm her nerves and not let herself think about anything except her flying. That felt better.

She felt herself relaxing, and by the time she landed, she felt up to the task, even if she still wasn't one-hundred-percent comfortable. A few people started to filter onto the pitch, though, so she put a breezy smile on her face. "Welcome to try-outs!" she said with a wave.
